Weekly Railroad Service Report Update – 11/27/14

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) published the sixth weekly service report update for Class 1 railroads spanning data acquired from November 16th to November 22nd. Overall, conditions have continued to deteriorate for ethanol transportation while grain transportation conditions were mixed. Ethanol Transportation: • Average train speed for ethanol transportation continued to decline slightly week-over-week, down 1.3% to 17.4 MPH. Train speed for ethanol transportation was 14.2% lower than the initial data point released five week ago. Weekly Average Train Speed-Ethanol - Nov 27 • Ethanol cars held 48-120 hours increased 15.9% week-over-week to a new weekly high. Ethanol cars held 48-120 hours were 41.7% higher than the initial data point released five weeks ago. Weekly Cars Held 48-120 Hours-Ethanol - Nov 27 • Ethanol cars held longer than 120 hours increased 25.2% week-over-week. Ethanol cars held longer than 120 hours remain 32.1% lower than the peak reached three weeks ago but are 34.1% higher than the initial data point released five weeks ago. Weekly Cars Held Greater Than 120 Hours-Ethanol - Nov 27 Grain Transportation: • Average train speed for grain transportation increased slightly week-over-week, up 0.4% to 20.2 MPH. Train speed for grain transportation remains 2.6% lower than the initial data point released five week ago. Weekly Average Train Speed-Grain - Nov 27 • Grain cars held 48-120 hours increased 1.6% week-over-week. Grain cars held 48-120 hours remain 17.2% lower than the peak reached two weeks ago but are 45.5% higher than the initial data point released five weeks ago. Weekly Cars Held 48-120 Hours-Grain - Nov 27 • Grain cars held longer than 120 hours increased 11.4% from the low experienced in the previous week and were 2.7% higher than the initial data point released five weeks ago. Weekly Cars Held Greater Than 120 Hours-Grain - Nov 27
