Crop Progress Update – 4/19/21

According to the USDA, corn planting progress finished equal to five year average levels during the week ending Apr 18th.

Corn:

Corn plantings as of the week ending Apr 18th were eight percent complete, finishing slightly above last year’s pace of six percent completed and equal to the five year average pace. Corn planting progress reached a four year seasonal high level but finished slightly below analyst expectations of nine percent completed.

The majority of corn plantings have been completed throughout the states of Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas as of the week ending Apr 18th.

An additional four percent of the total U.S. corn crop was planted during the week ending Apr 18th. Weekly increases in corn plantings on a percentage basis were led by Alabama, followed by South Carolina and North Carolina.
