Executive Summary
Chinese dairy import figures provided by GTIS were recently updated with values spanning through Nov ’16. Highlights from the updated report include:
Nov ’16 Total Chinese Dairy Import Volumes Increased 43.8% MOM and 20.4% YOY
Total Chinese Dairy Import Volumes Finished at the Second Highest November Figure
Nov ’16 Chinese WMP Import Volumes Increased 206.5% MOM and 10.4% YOY
Chinese WMP Imports Finished at a Three Year High for the Month of November
Nov ’16 Chinese SMP Import Volumes Increased 35.6% MOM and 0.1% YOY
Chinese SMP Imports Remained 26.4% Below Three Year Average November Figures
Nov ’16 Chinese Dairy Imports Excluding WMP & SMP Increased 28.6% MOM and 25.5% YOY
Chinese Dairy Imports Excluding WMP & SMP Finished at a November Record High
New Zealand Accounted for Over a Third of the Total Nov ’16 Chinese Dairy Import Volumes
- Nov ’16 total Chinese dairy import volumes increased on a YOY basis for the 15th first time in the past 16 months, finishing up 20.4% and reaching an eight month high.
- Chinese dairy import volumes originating from within New Zealand exceeded volumes originating from within the EU-28 for the first time in eight months during Nov ’16, despite growth within EU-28 volumes remaining higher on a YOY basis. Volumes originating from within New Zealand and the EU-28 combined to account for over 70% of the total Chinese dairy import volumes throughout the month.
- Nov ’16 Chinese dairy imports excluding whole milk powder and skim milk powder remained particularly strong, finishing up 25.5% YOY to a new record high for the month of November.
