Planting Progress Update – 9/26/16

According to USDA, corn and soybean conditions remained favorable to previous year levels through the week ending Sep 25th. Corn: 74% of the corn crop remained in good or excellent condition during the week ending Sep 25th, with 19% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 68% of the corn crop was identified as good or excellent. US Corn Condition - Week Ending Sep 25 73% of corn has matured through the week ending Sep 25th, up from 66% experienced during the previous year and a five year average figure of 64%. US Corn Maturing Progress 9-26-16 Corn harvested stood at 15% during the week ending Sep 25th, slightly below the previous year’s harvest pace of 16% and the five year average pace of 19%. Percent of Corn Harvested as of 9-25-16 An additional 6% of the total U.S. corn crop was harvested during the week ending Sep 25th. Weekly increases in the corn crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Oklahoma, followed by Kentucky and Tennessee. Weekly Change Increase in Percent of Corn Harvested as of 9-25-16 Soybeans: 73% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Sep 25th, with 20% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 62% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent. US Soybean Condition - Week Ending Sep 25 68% of soybeans have dropped leaves during the week ending Sep 25th, down from 69% experienced during the previous year but higher than the five year average figure of 64%. 10% of soybeans have been harvested through the week ending Sep 25th, down from 17% experienced during the previous year and a five year average figure of 13%. Percent of Soybeans Harvested as of 9-25-16 An additional 6% of the total U.S. soybean crop was harvested during the week ending Sep 25th. Weekly increases in the soybean crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Alabama, followed by Louisiana. Weekly Change Increase in Percent of Soybeans Harvested as of 9-25-16
