  • October 21, 2015
  • by wbabler
According to Baker Hughes, U.S. oil rig counts continued to fall throughout the first half of October, declining by nine during the week ending Oct 9th and an additional ten during the week ending Oct 16th to a total of 595. Oil rig counts increased to a four month high throughout the final weeks of August but regressed back to a five year low during the week ending Oct 16th. Crude oil production remains higher on a YOY basis but has declined from recent high output levels despite production per rig increasing to a new five and a half year high. The trend of declining crude oil production is expected to continue as drilling productivity estimates show declining production in coming months throughout areas accounting for 95% of recent production gains.
