Crop Progress Update – 4/23/18

According to USDA, corn planting progress finished below previous year levels through the week ending Apr 22nd. Corn: Corn plantings as of the week ending Apr 22nd were 5% complete, finishing below last year’s pace of 15% and the five year average pace of 14%. The majority of corn plantings have been completed throughout the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas and Alabama as of the week ending Apr 22nd. An additional 2% of the total U.S. corn crop was planted during the week ending Apr 22nd. Weekly increases in corn plantings on a percentage basis were led by Arkansas, followed by South Carolina and New Mexico.
