Crop Progress Update – 6/28/21

According to the USDA, the percent of corn identified to be in good or excellent condition continued to decline from the previous week while the percent of soybeans identified to be in good or excellent condition finished unchanged from the previous week.

Corn:

Corn silking as of the week ending Jun 27th was four percent complete, finishing equal to last year’s pace but slightly below the five year average pace of six percent completed.

64% of the current corn crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jun 27th, down one percent from the previous week but up two percent in the ‘excellent’ category. Eight percent of the current corn crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, up two percent from the previous week.

Soybeans:

Soybean emergence as of the week ending Jun 27th was 96% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 94% completed and the five year average pace of 92% completed.

Soybean blooming as of the week ending Jun 27th was 14% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 13% completed and the five year average pace of 11% completed.

An additional nine percent of the total U.S. soybean crop bloomed during the week ending Jun 27th. Weekly increases in soybean blooming on a percentage basis were led by New York and Louisiana, followed by Nebraska.

60% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jun 27th, unchanged from the previous week but up one percent in the ‘excellent’ category. Nine percent of the current soybean crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, unchanged from the previous week.
