U.S. dollar (USD) strength continued within the Atten Babler Commodities Ethanol Foreign Exchange (FX) Indexes during Dec ’14. The USD/Ethanol Producer FX Index and USD/Domestic Ethanol Importer FX Index increased to nine and five year highs, respectively. USD/Ethanol Producer FX Index: The USD/Ethanol Producer FX Index increased 1.7 points in Dec ’14 to a value of 111.5, a nine year high. The USD/Ethanol Producer FX Index has increased 5.2 points throughout 2014 and 7.0 points throughout the past six months. USD appreciation against the Brazilian real has accounted for the majority of the 2014 gains. USD/Domestic Ethanol Importer FX Index: The USD/Domestic Ethanol Importer FX Index increased 2.0 points in Dec ’14 to a value of 99.0, a five year high. The USD/Domestic Ethanol Importer FX Index has increased 7.0 points throughout 2014 and 6.6 points throughout the past six months. USD appreciation against the Canadian dollar has accounted for the majority of the 2014 gains.
