Crop Progress Update – 7/27/20

According to the USDA, the current corn and soybean crops identified to be in good or excellent condition each increased three percent from the previous week, finishing significantly above analyst expectations. Corn: Corn silking as of the week ending Jul 26th was 82% completed, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 51% completed and the five year average pace of 75% completed. Corn dough as of the week ending Jul 26th was 22% completed, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 11% completed and the five year average pace of 17% completed. 72% of the current corn crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 26th, up three percent from the previous week. The current corn crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished significantly above analyst expectations of 69%. Seven percent of the current corn crop was identified as very poor or poor, down one percent from the previous week. Soybeans: Soybean blooming as of the week ending Jul 26th was 76% completed, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 52% completed and the five year average pace of 72% completed. Soybean pod setting as of the week ending Jul 26th was 43% completed, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 17% completed and the five year average pace of 36% completed. 72% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 26th, up three percent from the previous week. The current soybean crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished significantly above analyst expectations of 69%. Six percent of the current soybean crop was identified as very poor or poor, down one percent from the previous week.
