U.S. Trade with Mexico

  • April 25, 2014
  • by wbabler
Ongoing trade disputes between the U.S. and Mexico including a country-of-origin labeling rule and sugar anti-dumping filing may have potential ramifications for commodity markets going forward. There are concerns that tensions may disrupt future negotiations between the U.S. and Mexico. U.S. beef, pork, and dairy exports to Mexico outpace those of other agricultural commodities, so U.S. beef, pork, and dairy markets are exposed to greater relative harm if trade markets between the countries are disrupted. With many believing Mexico will retaliate from recent trade disputes, and with concerns that tensions may lead to disruptions in markets other than those involved, outcomes of the recent trade disputes will be of interest going forward for U.S. beef, pork, and dairy producers and end-users. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about our dairy research products, including the current report that analyzes the impact of ongoing trade disputes between the U.S. and Mexico.
